Tonight we went out for dinner with Sylvian, Rebecca and Matt. Sylvian really wanted to bring us to a Korean place that was near their apartment and since I'm a fan of Korean food, I was excited. We were ushered into what seemed like a house, with a handful of rooms each containing a large round table with a burner in the center of the table. The first round of Pijou (beer) was ordered and we attempted to order some ingredients for our meal. We all called out random food vocabulary in hopes that it would be on the menu, but besides vegetables, their meat selection was pretty slim.

Happy Mother's Day :: No, don't write LOVE GREG, write YOUR name...And yes, my writing IS that bad.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but your mother isn't anything compared to mine.
Though once you've come to terms with that, I suggest you go give yours a hug.

I wish I could give mine a hug right now :)
I love you Mom!

Something I just can't get enough of is Street Meat. There's vendors all over the place, happily wafting a sheet of plastic over coals while cooking an assortment of meats on skewers.
It can get a little smokey, but it smells incredible. And as they masterfully twist and rotate the food with one hand (up to 10 at a time), the other hand is sprinkling on a variety of spices. Yummy!
It's also very cheap - 5 RMB (74 cents!) for 5 skewers. Unfortunately there's a theory floating around in the household, which states this delicacy gives me the shits, but I disagree. I'll have to give it another 8 or 10 tries before I can prove or disprove. I'll keep you updated.

Though while on the subject...

I was coming home from work, and it was just me and the driver. He's not the talkative sort, though I like to think it's because he's focusing on the road. There wasn't much traffic today, so instead of the usual teeth gritting, buttock clenching joyride of death while he weaves in and out of traffic with the grace of a dancer, it was a more relaxed ride.
I found myself reflecting on the last few months - where I've been, what's I've done and what the remainder of this year holds. It was during this time of deep soul searching that I realized I really wish I had a box of Kraft Dinner. And if I arrived home to find just a single box mysteriously sitting on the kitchen table, beckoning me in it's "just add milk and butter" glory, would I gently open it? Timidly and cautiously at first, being mindful not to tear the precious, magical pouch of powdered cheese? Boil just enough water to cook the noodles, but not enough to hinder the boiling speed? Embrace the sound and smell of the butter melting and mingling enchantingly with the noodles and milk as I stir it together with a loving smile? And finally cherishing the flavours and consistency and I take that first steaming hot forkful?

Of course not, I'd inhale it like usual, without chewing (also as usual), probably while watching the latest episode of LOST. Or at least during the commercial break.

Nicky :: I don't like Window Shopping.

During our regular "What's new?" conversation at the beginning of class, Nicky brought up his disdain towards Window Shopping, which he had to do with his mother on Wednesday. He picked up a piece of chalk and began...

"I don't like Window Shopping. Do you know why?"
"No, tell me."
"Number 1. It's boring."
"Number 2. I get tired."
"Number 3. I don't have a lot of money."
"Number 4. I DON'T LIKE WINDOW SHOPPING."

Clear enough. You'll make a good man someday!
